Missing U

**Background** These socks are designed as a homage to all our loved ones. The loved ones who we have not been able to meet up with for a long time due to the pandemic, distance or life in general. Knit a pair and gift them to someone you miss! *To quote one of my lovely testers: "There is a U missing from the alphabet". Rightly so, that is the point of the Missing U socks!* **Constructions** The cuff is stranded knitting, however it is only two colours. Some places you will have to twist the yarn to avoid long floats. The socks are knit top-down, thus all the letters will be up-side-down when you knit them. You can choose to knit a short leg (about 14 cm) or a long leg (about 18 cm). For the foot you can omit the border of hearts if you want to, or you can place them wherever you want to on the foot. Maybe you want to add more than one border of hearts. The pattern describes how to do the toe both without the hearts, and with the hearts close to the toe. This pattern uses charts. Circumference 19 (22) 25cm Foot length adjustable **Yarn and needles** Yarn: Light Fingering weight Yardage: MC 240 – 400 m, depending on size you choose, leg you choose and length of sock. CC 80 -150m, if you choose the short leg 80m (a mini skein) should be enough for all three sizes. Gauge (in stockinette): 32 sts/45 rows = 10 cm Needles: 2.5mm DPN’s, some people may want to use 2.25mm/2mm on the foot to obtain same gauge in plain stockinette and stranded.
