Talvinen

Talvinen is a colorwork yoke sweater worked from the top down. This design is intended to be worn with 2-4" [5-10 cm] of positive ease, depending on your personal preference. Optional A-line shaping is achieved by going up a needle size as you knit the body and sleeves. Inspired by the Sielulintu- the soul-bird in Finnish folklore, Talvinen means winter in Finnish. It is a little tribute to my Finnish grandmother, Julia, and a reminder of the beauty of winter, my favorite season. I used [Biches&Bûches][1] Le Petit Lambswool for my sample- the rustic and lofty fingering weight is wonderful for colorwork, blocks beautifully and comes in a stunning range of colors! **MATERIALS:** **Yarn** Biches & Bûches Le Petit Lambswool 100% Lambswool 271 yards [248 m], 50g Colors used in sample C1: dark orange grey C2: grey brown C3: turquoise **Needles** Ribbing: US 2/ 2.75 mm Main: US 3/ 3.25 mm Body Shaping 1: US 4/ 3.5 mm Body Shaping 2: US 5/ 3.75 mm Body shaping needles are optional, used if you wish to create an a-line shape. **Gauge** 24 sts and 36 rounds over 4” [10 cm] in colorwork and stockinette on main needles after blocking. **Yardage:** Note that yardage is estimated and may vary depending on yarn used, gauge variations or modifications.
