Basic Doll Socks

**Description** These socks are knit from the cuff down with a heel flap and gusset construction for the heel. The directions are written for double pointed needles, but you can adapt it for magic loop. This pattern contains two patterns – one that is appropriate for smaller baby dolls (our model was a 14” doll) and one that is appropriate for 18” dolls such as the American Girl doll. **Foot Measurements** 14” Doll: Length – 1.5 in./4 cm. Circumference: 3.25 in./8 cm. * These socks fit the doll with slight positive ease. This was intentional – my daughters were young and it was easier for them to dress their babies when the socks fit more loosely. If you prefer tighter socks, go down a needle size from the one you used to get gauge. 18” Doll: Length – 2.5 in./6 cm. Circumference: 3.5 in./9 cm. * These socks fit the doll with slight negative ease. They fit like regular socks. **Materials** * Fingering Weiight Yarn – approximately 6 grams, 20-30 yards / 18-28 meters - perfect for using up scraps or 10 gram mini skeins * Double Pointed Needles (or needle of choice) – US 1 (2.5 mm) or sized needed to obtain gauge * Darning Needle (for weaving in ends) Stitch marker (optional) **Gauge** 8-8.5 stitches x 11 rounds = 1 inch * I did not block the finished socks, so this is my pre-blocked gauge.
