Sunshine Bonnet

Sunshine bonnet is a simple and sweet little hat for babies and toddlers. It is seamless, knitted in one piece with i-cord edges and i-cord ties. Short rows in the front give extra coverage of the forehead. **SIZES** 1 – 2 months, (2 – 6 months, 6 – 12 months, 1 – 2 years), 2 – 3 years, to fit head circumference approx. 36 – 38, (40 – 42, 44 – 46, 48 – 50), 52 cm. **GAUGE** 21 stitches & 21 ridges (42 rows) = 10 cm worked in garter stitch using the larger needles, after blocking. **YARN** Plied, soft wool yarn with good elasticity, approx. 200–250m/100g, for example The Fibre Company Cumbria, Sandnes Alpakka Ull, Malabrigo Rios, Madelinetosh DK Twist, approx. 40, (45, 50, 55), 60 grams. **NEEDLES** 4 mm (US6) circular needles 40 cm (16”) – or a needle size that gives you the correct gauge. 3 mm (US2.5) circular needles 40 – 60 cm (16–24”) – or 1 mm smaller than the gauge needles. **NOTIONS** Removable marker, tapestry needle. **CONSTRUCTION** The bonnet is worked seamless, in one piece. You´ll start working the back piece, then pick up the sts along the edges to work the side pieces. Short rows are worked at the front, for a better fit. The hat is finished with I-cord edges and I-cord ties. Note: The gauge is important in this project, both the row and the stitch gauge. If you don’t want to make a proper swatch, check the gauge while knitting the back piece of the hat. ............................ **STORLEKAR** 1 – 2 mån., (2 – 6 mån., 6 – 12 mån., 1 – 2 år), 2 – 3 år. Huvudomkrets: ca 36 – 38, (40 – 42, 44 – 46, 48 – 50), 52 cm. **MASKTÄTHET** 21 maskor & 21 åsar (42 varv) = 10 cm på sticka A i rätstickning, efter blockning. **GARN** Ett elastiskt, flertrådigt ullgarn med ca 200 – 250 meter / 100 gram, till exempel Malabrigo Rios, Sandnes Double Sunday, Sandnes Alpakka Ull, Madelinetosh DK Twist, ca 40, (45, 50, 55), 60 gram. **STICKOR** A: 4 mm rundsticka 40 cm (eller en sticka som ger dig korrekt masktäthet). B: 3 mm rundsticka 40 – 60 cm (1 mm smalare än sticka A). **TILLBEHÖR** En öppningsbar stickmarkör, stoppnål. **KONSTRUKTION** Hättan stickas i ett stycke, utan sömmar. Först stickas bakstycket, därefter plockas maskorna upp för att sticka mössans sidostycken. Förkortade varv görs på framsidan, för en bra passform runt ansiktet. Mössan avslutas med en I-cordavmaskning samt knytband. Notera: Masktätheten är viktig i detta projekt, både på bredden och på höjden. Om du ändå inte vill göra en ordentlig provlapp rekommenderar jag att dubbelkolla masktätheten medan du stickar mössans bakstycke.
